Hypocrisy Undermines the Church

Pope Francis so far seems to be a very deliberate and wise pope. He, on the 14th of April, commented on the credibility of the Church, and how hypocrisy is undermining it. He mentions that the inconsistency between the actions of the faithful and the life their are supposed to lead according to the Church undermines the credibility of the Church.

I like Pope Francis. He is a pope who seems to favor simplicity over grandeur and has already humbled himself in ways that many popes have not. He is a good leader for the Church, for he acts as much as he talks. I think that the message he gives is a good message. Having to deal with power struggles in the Vatican, and the sexual abuse of children by priests requires a leader who can crack down on these issues, and attack the hypocrisy of these actions. He also appears to be a man of understanding. He knows the issues to attack, and the way to cut them at their roots. More importantly, he knows exactly why those issues undermine the Church, and therefore why they must be ended.

The hypocrisy of the Church is something that many often criticize, whether it be in these sort of scandals, or just in the everyday actions of its members. This is why it is important to always act as God would have you act, in a way that is Holy and pleasing to him. Not only will it improve you, it will give credit to a Church that more and more needs credibility.
